The Husky 10 Composite slider is a premium solution from Husky for towing fifth wheel trailers with a pickup short bed.
A significant advantage of a short bed pickup is its short wheel base, which provides a shorter turning radius and greater maneuverability in town and at the campground.
The shorter wheel base also means the truck's rear axle is located closer to the pickup cab.
Since fifth wheel trailer king pins should be attached just ahead of the rear axle, this can place the trailer's front uncomfortably close to the pickup cab during tight turns, such as backing into a favorite camping spot.
Enter Husky's innovative fifth wheel mounting system, the Husky 10 composite slider, which temporarily positions the kingpin 10 inches behind the cruising location, allowing low-speed truck and trailer maneuvers without concerns of the trailer contacting the truck's cab.
Another notable feature of the Husky 10 is the design of the operating handle, which enables the operator to latch and unlatch the slide mechanism without worrying about the trailer's angle, as the latch cannot bind.
It activates automatically, allowing the trailer to move back for tight turns.
When repositioned, it will also automatically latch again when the kingpin returns to the optimal cruising position just ahead of the axle.
