The Rubber Guard is a synthetic rubber gasket that separates the fairlead and the ProLink by a high durometer rubber material.
Designed into the ProLink from the beginning, the rubber guard feature includes 8 precision machined pockets in the back of the ProLink that accept the barbs of the rubber guard.
The ribbed design of the barbs allows for multiple cycles of installation and removal without destroying the barbs.
Once installed, the Rubber Guard will not come loose and will protect both Roller and Hawse fairleads from scratching.
Instead of polyurethane, we use EPDM because polyurethane products crack easily, plain and simple.
EPDM is a synthetic rubber that has superior resistance to cracking, aging, UV, ozone, and oxygen exposure.
It is also flexible and extremely resilient.
Although the cost to manufacture products from EPDM material is considerably higher than urethane, at Factor 55, we believe that the choice to use EPDM has resulted in a superior engineered and longer-lasting product.
Installation instructions: Place the ProLink Rubber Guard barbs up on a flat surface.
Moisten the barbs with soapy water or glass cleaner and carefully align the ProLink on top of the Rubber Guard, ensuring the barbs align with the mating holes.
Apply firm uniform pressure until all barbs engage into holes.
