This amazing fabric is constructed by weaving durable polyester solution-dyed fabric from a Nextec mill partner, followed by the application of pre-finishing chemistries, prepping it for the encapsulation process.
A viscous patented mixture of silicone-based polymers is then applied to the fabric using Nextec proprietary equipment.
Energy (heat and pressure) is applied to the polymers, working them inside the fabric and wrapping the individual fade-resistant fibers (see illustration).
All but the smallest spaces (or 'micro holes') are filled.
The process is finished by curing the polymers to a solid state in specially-designed ovens, making the fabric ready for garments, gear, and, in this case, vehicle covers!
No laminates or surface coating.
Nextec's encapsulation process delivers all-weather protection without sacrificing breathability, pack ability, or 'soft to the paint touch'.
WeatherShield is not waterproof, but it sheds most water and helps prevent dust, dirt, bird droppings, and tree sap from reaching the surface of your vehicle.
The breathable properties of the fabric assure that any heat, moisture, or condensation under the cover can escape quickly.
