The Barong is prevalent throughout Southeast Asia.
It is often utilized as an agricultural tool and is recognized as a savagely effective implement of warfare.
A favored blade style in Filipino martial arts, the Barong has a fearsome reputation for inflicting deep slashing cuts and massive wounds.
The Barong also serves as an excellent tool for bushcraft, cleaving vines and branches with ease.
Its classically shaped down-turned polypropylene handle anchors the blade in the hand and helps resist centrifugal forces during hard chopping or slashing strokes.
The beautifully curved 18" leaf-shaped blade is crafted from 1055 Carbon Steel with a baked-on, matte black finish to aid in rust resistance, and each Barong includes a Cor-Ex sheath for convenience of carry and use.
Many employees at Cold Steel, including our President Lynn C.
Thompson, practice Filipino Martial Arts and have great admiration for the Barong.
We are proud to present this new interpretation of the classic Barong in our modern tactical Machete offerings.
