db Shield is a lightweight, thin, and highly moldable vibration damping material made of vinyl-based sheets.
Designed to mold and conform to irregular surfaces, db Shield achieves 100 percent bond, maximizing damping performance.
It will stretch up to 40 percent, making an irregular surface appear as if it has been dipped in plastic.
With twice the damping and less than half the weight of asphalt damping materials, it can handle continuous temperatures up to 250 Degree F.
Consisting of a proprietary component blend in a lightweight vinyl carrier, db Shield has been engineered to convert structural resonance (vibration) into low-level heat through friction.
The friction occurs from the proprietary component blend coming into contact with each other as the substrate (or panel) vibrates.
Ideally suited to create or replace a vapor barrier behind an interior door panel, db Shield is much denser and more rugged than flimsy plastic provided by many OEMs.
This makes db Shield far more capable of blocking airborne sound that typically enters the vehicle via the doors.
Additionally, db Shield blocks speaker back-wave and prevents an acoustical short circuit, improving audio system performance by preventing the conversion of sound energy into vibration energy, resulting in cleaner, crisper sound from your speakers.
