The synthetic nylon sling from Erickson is manufactured to achieve a design factor of 5:1.

This design factor is divided into the nominal strength of a sling to determine the WLL (or rated capacity).

This factor is necessary to account for wear, abrasion, damage, and variations in load that may not be readily apparent to the sling user, but does not account for insufficient edge protection or protection against cutting.

The nylon endless lift sling measures 2 inches by 8 feet and has hitch capacities as follows: 6400 pounds for basket hitch, 2500 pounds for choker hitch, and 3200 pounds for vertical hitch.
