Why is a brake light switch needed?
Brake light switches are necessary only if a supplemental braking system monitor is being installed, and the vehicle’s OEM brake light switch does not work when the vehicle is in 'tow' mode.
When a supplemental braking system is installed, the RV driver should be able to monitor the braking activity of the dinghy.
This is accomplished by Roadmaster monitoring the towed car's brake light switch.
However, in some vehicles, the brake light switch only functions while the car is running.
The Universal Brake Light Switch solves this issue by adding a brake light switch that functions while towing.
The brake light switch activates only when the brake pedal is depressed.
No other manufacturer provides brake light switches with this level of specificity.
Knowing when the towed vehicle’s brake pedal is depressed and released indicates if the supplemental braking system is positioned properly and functioning as it should.
Roadmaster brake light switches are vehicle specific.
Each kit includes a mounting bracket and installation instructions for a specific application.
