This thermostat is designed to be paired with a high flow water pump in a cooling system that is high performance.With some other designs of thermostat, the increased flow generated by the high volume water pump can actually attempt to hold the thermostat closed.To compensate for this effect, this thermostat uses a special design called "Balanced Sleeve" that equals the pressure exerted on the thermostat, allowing its operation to be regulated solely by coolant temperature.
