Our Cold-Gold Tape was designed to shield radiant heat while having the kind of show-quality material seen on cars in prestigious competitions, such as the Detroit Autorama Ridler award!
Most thermal-barrier products marketed as "gold" use "birthday balloon technology" to deflect heat.
While Mylar can look fantastic, it is the same material used in birthday balloons.
It can reflect heat away, but aluminum foil can do so at a fraction of the cost.
Our Cold-Gold Tape is made from proprietary TruGold thermal-barrier material.
It consists of a true gold color reflective layer combined with lightweight high-grade fiberglass cloth.
The full fiberglass backing (not scrim) protects components during those critical seconds between the start of a fire event and full-flame catastrophe.
The full fiberglass cloth backing acts as a fire barrier even after the gold coating burns off, giving Cold-Gold Tape an advantage over balloon-based barriers.
Cold-Gold Tape will not degrade after long-term heat exposure.
It withstands constant ambient temperatures of up to 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit, intermittent ambient temperatures of 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, and direct-contact heat of up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cold-Gold Tape can shield over 90 percent of radiant heat with a 1-inch space from the heat source.
All rolls are 0.008" thick.
