Installation Notes: 2006 - 2008 Dodge Mega Cab 1/2 Ton.
Smooth action and hassle-free, the best hitch has been made even better, and it is so simple you will wonder how you didn't think of it.
One pull of the handle raises the ball, and it will convince you that this is the hitch you want.
The Cam mechanism has been replaced with a simple, strong, and reliable Slide to raise and lower the ball.
Pull the bar to raise the ball and press down.
When the ball is fully raised with the roll pin stopped against the tube, the ball rests securely on the flat surface at the top of the slide.
In this position, the Stainless Steel Detent with a 30LBS ball spring behind it mates with a hole in the bottom of the slide, preventing the slide from moving until the handle is dropped to Over-Ride the spring.
Tow when needed and enjoy a soft bed for all those other jobs when an ordinary hitch ball is always on the go.
It does not sacrifice strength for comfort.
Hitches are rated at 7,500 pounds maximum tongue weight and 30,000 pounds maximum trailer weight.
Components bolt together with the truck, providing an extremely strong and reliable truck towing system with only a 3" hole in the floor of the bed.
Hitches are built specifically for each truck model, ensuring a perfect fit.
For secure, spring-loaded trailer bolts (which are level with the floor of the bed when not in use), anchor chains are provided for security.
Strength is built in.
Front and rear cross members are manufactured from 2" x 2.5" x .375 angle.
(1" x 2" steel bar is used for the cross member on front Dodge and for the rear cross member on newer Chevy and GMC Silverado/Sierra body styles.) Cross Members span and sit on top of the truck frame, transferring all trailer tongue weight directly to the frame of the tow truck.
Installation is quick and easy without raising the truck bed or lowering the exhaust.
