The factory rear shock mounts are sufficient for 2.5″ remote reservoir shocks.
Once valving starts to stack up or larger than 2.5″ shocks are installed, the inability of the driver’s side upper rear shock mount to take a beating should be addressed.
The mount is stronger than the cross member to which you’ll be welding it, thanks to fully boxed and welded 3/16″ cold-rolled steel construction.
That said, triangulation of the Carli driver shock mount/crossmember/frame rail is also recommended.
The passenger side shock mount has always proved sufficient, but removing the bed and prepping for weld is such a process that a matching mount was designed and fabricated for the passenger side for cheap insurance.
This mount requires no additional triangulation or gusseting.
